The current owner of the property (alongside the proposed developer) is requesting that the property be rezoned from R-1 to R-5 and is asking for a special use permit to allow for more than 12 units per apartment building.

Here are some further details of this proposed community...
  • One of the parcels included in this proposal has been used as a commercial truck terminal since 1975 despite being zoned R-1.  The other parcel is vacant.

  • The proposed 142 unit development is on a 7 acre parcel.

  • The development would include an on-site community center, swimming pool and other recreational amenities.

  • The development would consist of one, two and three-bedroom apartments, some with lofts.

  • Per the developer, "the majority of the units will be two-bedroom, two-bath units designed to attract younger professionals, empty nesters, and other renters by choice"

  • The developer's proffers would restrict the occupancy to either a family or not more than three unrelated persons.

  • City staff recommends denial of the rezoning and special use permit request.

  • City Planning Commission will review both requests on Wednesday at their regular meeting.
