Home sales rose 8% in Rockingham County last year -- from 847 sales in 2018 up to 917 sales in 2019. This is the highest number of home sales we have seen in Rockingham County in at least the past six years.
But in the City, it was a different story. Home sales declined 12% in the City of Harrisonburg in 2019, from 459 sales in 2018 down to only 403 sales in 2019. This is higher than some recent years, but the lowest number of homes ales in the past four years.
A few more notes...
- 69% of buyers bought in the County last year. That said, there are around 86K properties in the County and only around 13K in the City.
- Properties sell much more frequently in the City of Harrisonburg, as last year, approximately 3.1% of City properties (403 of 13K) changed ownership, while only approximately 1.1% of County properties (917 of 86K) changed ownership.
