Visit the City Council chambers today at 4PM for a (potentially) lively discussion about the R-1 zoning classification in the City of Harrisonburg.  Here's a summary....

• A zoning appeal will be heard related to an R-1 property on Port Republic Road that is occupied by four college-age men. 
    
  
• The owner of the property believes that student housing is an acceptable use of the property.
   
  
• A violation of the zoning ordinance is apparently a class 1 misdemeanor, which can have a maximum punishment of a year in jail and a $2,500 fine if not addressed.  Wow!
