Anyone who has bought a home lately will tell you... there's no such thing as a perfect house.
Whether it is the layout, the room sizes, the current cosmetic finishes, or the lot, there will always be at least one thing, and maybe a few things that don't quite align with what you have identified as being ideal.
What We're Actually Looking For
Instead of perfect, we're looking for the house that gets the important things (or most of the important things) right. Usually that's the stuff you can't easily change... location, lot, layout, and the overall size of the home. You'll live with those as long as you own it.
Paint colors, light fixtures, flooring, even a kitchen... those can change. Sometimes quickly, sometimes over a few years, but they can change.
Why Waiting for Perfect Can Cost You
In many price ranges across Harrisonburg and Rockingham County, the most popular houses often don't sit around while we wait to see whether a slightly better one comes along. If we hold out for perfect, there's a decent chance we'll pass on several really good houses along the way.
Should you buy a house you don't love? Nope.
But it would be reasonable to buy a house that is 90% perfect... and then work on making it even better for you over the coming years.
If you're just starting your search, or you're deep into it and feeling a bit stuck, I'm happy to talk through what matters most... and what might not matter as much as you think.
