If you decide to buy a home this fall, and you're getting ready to make an offer - will you have more negotiating room than usual?
As usual... maybe... but maybe not.
Maybe...
1. Some sellers needs to move on to another home, or job, and are ready to negotiate on price to get the show on the road.
2. Some sellers bought at a price that will allow them to negotiate with you.
3. Some sellers would rather not still be trying to sell their home as we move into November or December.
4. Some sellers have their homes priced higher than market data suggest is appropriate, meaning they should, and perhaps will, negotiate on price.
But, maybe not...
1. Some sellers don't have to sell and thus will decide not to negotiate much.
2. Some sellers bought at a price that doesn't give them (or seem to give them) much room to negotiate on price.
3. Some sellers are willing to wait for the right buyer to come along that is willing to pay their price for a home that is just what they want.
4. Some sellers have their homes priced very realistically, and likely won't need to negotiate much on price.
Buyers... if you see a house you're interested in... don't hesitate to make an offer, but know that the seller may or may not be willing to negotiate much on price.
